Acerca de mi
(English version down below)
👋Hola!
👋Hello! I'm glad you are reading this...
👋Hello! I'm glad you are reading this...
Since you are here:
I made the first entry with lots of emojis to made the crude entry more digestible to Peruvian readers.
I'm naturally optimist, but I realized that the entry "¿Por qué NO debemos esperanzarnos en una vacuna contra el COVID19?" may sound a little pessimistic, but this is not my intention. I just want to present a realistic scenario to people in Perú, so they could be aware of how their acts and beliefs can influence the current pandemic.
¿What I am doing here?
I realized that, before this coronavirus became a pandemic, this was a very common topic in my daily life. My friends and family asked me about the virus and how it was going to influence their lives in different ways.
Oh come on, nobody knew the extent to which this pandemic was going to result (close to 2M of infected worldwide -at the moment). 🙆
I made my first blog when I was 12 y.o., however, I do not usually dedicate myself to science communication (scientific divulgation), since sometimes it costs me (a little) to get out of the technical language. But if I can help more people than my friends and family to understand a concept, that would make me very happy.
Thank you.💛
P.S. If you want to make a contribution to this Blog about COVID-19, (simple language and Spanish?) write to me at paoaguirre.gyb@gmail.com
This blog is mainly for Peruvians, that is why it is written in Spanish so far. I know there is a lot of good info, but it is mostly in English.
Now, a little about me:
I studied Genetics and Biotechnology at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. And I was awarded a scholarship to take some courses at the University of Sao Paulo. After that, I traveled to Panamá to participate in an ambitious project at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, where I made mutants using novel technology and I also made many friends and lots of memories!
I'm not quite sure the directions this Blog is going to take, but this is not LinkedIn, is it? So I'll keep it casual.

MORE THINGS ABOUT ME:
👮SPOILER ALERT: BORING PERSONAL THINGS DOWN BELOW.
I found it a little hard to describe myself, so I'll try to answer some questions, like those personal question books we filled out in high school...
How does my day look like?
(Before quarantine) I cook, study, work, train 🤸do some fun and try to keep my social life active.
My days seem to be busy but I'm always available and love hanging out with friends 😉. 🙊
💪I'm constantly full of energy (sleep little) and like to dance and make jokes!😃
What do I do for fun?
Yes, not everything is about science in my life!
Reading, dancing, eating and cooking (especially when my fav. ppl come over).
I know a lot about nutrition btw, you can ask me for some advice if you want, but I won't judge what you eat, just do what makes you happy! 😄

| I made a cake for the very first time in my life!!! a couple of days ago, it doesn't look too bad, does it? |
How do I consider myself?
Hmmm... (hard to define)
I have always felt that I am an extrovert, and I like to be surrounded by many people. However, this has been changing over the years, in my career, I have often found myself spending my day doing my things alone in the lab, sometimes, until late at night or even at dawn. Yes, sounds crazy, but when you do science and your work allows you a flexible schedule, you can literally -in few cases it is a must- go to work at midnight or on Sundays.
My best friend turned into headphones that play unpopular songs on Spotify or any nerdy podcast/youtube.
Humor is a large part of my life and I adore to spend time with witty and curious people. I'm high tolerant of sarcasm.
Funny Facts about me
- I wake up without alarm every day.❤💀💤
- I was almost arrested in Zurich.👮 🙆(Don't worry mom).
- I think the coolest thing I made at the lab is mutants living organisms by using CRISPR/Cas9 technology.👽
- I've been to virgin-beaches and non-explored spots.💛
- I've been chased by wild animals.😅(Occupational hazard)
- I sewed my first button at two years of age.💫
- I learn to read at three y.o. and at the age of four, I was enrolled in elementary school.👶
- I think the best skill I have is that I can read fast in four languages, however, I feel that I cannot speak properly nor in my native language.🙊💨
I like to help people and share my things with them. (I'm sharing with you information, is that a thing? haha😅)
My friends?
My best friends are to me like my family, they mean forever to me.💗
Regardless of distance or time, when we got together after long trips, it seems that we would never have been apart. I feel lucky to have such wonderful people in my life.
My family thinks I'm Asperger (I love them, but I gently disagree)
...But who knows me better?
the answer doesn't matter.

At the end of the day, I'm just a girl, like anyone else,
but I truly wish I could inspire you.
